Every new dog owner wants to raise a well behaved and trained pet. Bad habits begin to start at puppyhood so it is important to try and teach your dog essential life skills early on! Remember new dogs will need the most training.

Curious what the three essential dog commands are? Keep reading.

The “Come” Command

Teaching your dog to come when you call them is one of the most important aspects of puppy training. When starting to train your dog remember to always call your pet in a cheerful and friendly tone. In the start, you can also lure your dog to come by having a treat or toy.

The “No” Command

If you want your dog to learn to stop when performing a bad behavior then the no command is essential to teach as a puppy. When teething – if your pup starts chewing on something off limits remember to replace it with a toy and give them praise. Then they will begin to learn each time you say no to replace the item with one they are familiar with.

The “Sit” Command

This command is one of the easiest to teach your pet and comes in handy long-term as a dog owner. To teach a dog to sit, simply hold a treat in front of your pups head. Then when they flop down onto their but say the sit command while giving your dog the treat and praising them! If you repeat this action over and over again as a puppy they will learn the sit command in no time!
