Why I Am Thankful for My Dogs

As I prepare for the Thanksgiving celebration, I would like to share with you a few reasons I am thankful to have Stanley, Albert, and Emma in my life. I am incredibly grateful for the three of them. They changed our family life in ways I never imagined. I am greatly thankful for:

🐾 Their love. It does not matter how hard my day has been, rain or shine, I can count on them greeting me with ultimate excitement. I treasure every time my dogs receive me with wagging happy tails and tons of kisses. I am grateful because they love me for everything that I am. I agree with Josh Billing quote “A dog is the only thing that loves you more than he loves himself.”

🐾 Their companion. It does not matter for how long I stay working; I can always count with Stanley, Emma, and Albert to be by my side. Their loyalty and selfless devotion are unmatched.

🐾 Their contagious happiness. There is a quote that says “when a dog is in your life, there is always a reason to laugh.” Thanks to my lovely puppies, even on the absolute worst day, they always find a way to make me laugh. I laugh at least three times or more every day. The joy they bring and silly things they do remind me of the beauty of life.

🐾 Emotional support. As a cancer surgeon, most of my work days are pretty intense. It is always hard to tell a family that one of their loved ones is not doing well. It is also particularly hard when I lose one of my patients. I don’t share most of these experiences at home but Albert, always knows when I need that extra support. During challenging moments, he becomes my shadow and follows me everywhere. He places his head on my lap or my feet. I am not sure how he knows, but he knows when to comfort me. My dogs play an essential role during these emotional times, and I am incredibly thankful to have them by my side.

Give thanks for everything you have and give some extra belly rubs to your puppy as a thank you for enriching your life. Are you thankful for your dog? I would love to hear why you are grateful for your dog.

Happy Holidays!

Keila
