How to Keep Your Pet Entertained Indoors During Bad Weather

When the weather is bad it can be hard to do the outdoor activities that you and your pet love. Sometimes the weather just doesn’t cooperate so we have to think of ways to entertain our furry friend, but what is there to do? There are so many indoor activities that you and your dog can do that are not only fun but can also strengthen your bond.

Here’s how to keep your pet entertained indoors during bad weather:

Get a Variety of Toys

The most effective way to keep your dog entertained during bad weather is with all their favorite toys. Start by setting up a play area in your house and scatter toys around for your dog to play with. Some great toys include chew toys, bones, pet puzzles, treats, and more! This will guarantee that your dog will have plenty of stimuli to keep them entertained.

Have an Indoor Playdate

If you have a nearby neighbor or friend that has a furry companion of their own, consider arranging an indoor playdate. Section off an area in your house for the playdate to take place. Putting up pet gates can also be a great idea to ensure that they don’t run around the entire house. Indoor dog playdates are such a great way for you and your dog to socialize, regardless of the weather conditions.

Train Your Pet

It’s always a good idea to train your pet and when the weather conditions are not the best, it becomes the perfect opportunity to do so. Trained pets know how to behave in a variety of different circumstances and can easily be managed. Not only is training your pet beneficial, but it also is a great way to pass the time when you are stuck indoors.

Movie and Cuddle Time

There is nothing better than snuggling with your furry friend. When the weather is bad, watching a movie and cuddling with your pet becomes the best way to pass the time. Find an award-winning movie, grab some snacks for you and your pet, and snuggle up on the couch. This is a great way to bond with your furry friend.

Hide Treats Around the House

When you cannot go outside, create your own adventure indoors. Hiding treats around the house and letting your dog sniff to find them is a fun way to keep your dog entertained. Remember to praise your pet after each treat they find. This will ensure that they feel rewarded for their efforts toward the game.

With all these activities to do, you and your dog will have a fun day of bonding and it can even turn out to be better than an outdoor day!
