Tomo: The Next Generation of Dog Gear Design [Must Read]

When you got your pup, you most likely bought them a dog collar, name tag, leash, and maybe a harness, right? These are the essentials every dog parent must have.

Looking through the aisles, you probably had hundreds of different choices and combinations you could choose from, none really your favorite. You bought it because it was there and it worked for you.

However, some crafty and design-oriented dog owners looked at the current state of dog collars, leashes, and harnesses as something that could be improved. Dog gear design has virtually remained static for as long as I can remember. There’s a million options and brands to choose from with sometimes tacky designs. Plus, dog collars are fabric, which can get very dirty.

Not only that, when you’re ready to take your dog out for a walk, clasping the dog leash to the little metal ring can be difficult with an excited dog, especially one with a lot of hair, making it hard to locate it. And, when you’re trying to corral the muddy dog to go home from the dog park, leashing can get messy.

So a friend told me about Tomo, a completely new and innovative dog gear design made by 2 designers in California. I am very impressed and very excited!

They’ve redesigned every aspect of dog handling to create an ecosystem of products that allow for the best dog owning experience.

It’s a sleek, minimal, patent-pending quick connect collar, leash, and harness to allow you to easily attach and remove your dog’s gear. No wrestling to find the metal ring. Leashing your dog is a seamless experience.

Quick connect leash handle allows you to easily tether your dog.

Plus it has a built in waste-bag system, so no bulky, dangly doggy bag holder.

Unlike regular dog collars and leashes, it has no visible hardware and no clinking name tag. The dog’s name and information will be etched into the collar.

Another benefit is the tethering system. When you’re having lunch with friends and your pup, no need to get the dog and the leash tangled with the the chair leg. There’s a quick connect mechanism on the human side so you can release the connection, wrap it around an anchor point, and reconnect.

And you’re probably saying to yourself, “that’s not going to work for my big dog. They’re too strong; they will just snap it.”

The quick connect system is incredibly strong, able to keep large dogs controlled.

They’ve also designed a slim, comfortable harness for the dogs that are pullers!

Plus, it looks good. It’s stylish. It makes me think “Apple of Dog Products”.

Although I wish I could get my hands on one now, I’ll have to wait until they launch their Kickstarter in Summer 2020 (will update this)!
