If you are reading this you probably are dealing with or about to deal with a teething puppy. Getting a puppy is both exciting and overwhelming so be prepared for this difficult period. Keep in mind it is also a difficult time for your puppy – as they are confused why their teeth are hurting too!

Here are our top tips to help out your teething puppy.

Training

It is important in the early stages to train your puppy in regards to good and bad chewing behavior. When they have a toy they should be chewing on make sure to reward them with positive reinforcement. Instead of yelling at them for chewing the sofa, replace the couch with a proper dog toy! Sounds simple but everytime it will train your pup on learning the right things to chew on.

Teething Toys

There are plenty of toys that are made to give your puppies relief from their teething pain. If you don’t have the time or money to find one of these toys for your dog, try rolling up a towel like a rope, getting it wet, and freezing it. The cold yet chewy material of the frozen towel will soothe your dog’s pain while giving them the proper chewing bounce back they need.
